Stanley Meiburg joined the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 1977 and has been deputy regional administrator of EPA Region 4 in Atlanta, Ga. since 1996. He served as national liaison to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (2007-2008) and executive director of EPA’s environmental financial advisory board (2001-2010). The acting regional administrator during transitions in both regions 4 and 6, Meiburg was recognized as a meritorious federal executive (1997) and distinguished federal executive (2012). He received a gold medal (1990) for his work on the Clean Air Act amendments and silver medal (1983) for work on state-federal relations.
